Concrete Wave Stepped over to Quebec on oct 26th/27th to be a part of the second annual King of the mountain DH longboard race hosted by Top of The World Skateshop and Thane events. Longboard festivals seldom come to the east coast race scene but with last years surprise success of their single day legal race, organizers turned this simple race into a week end long festival filled with bomb fires, an on-site mini ramp jam, camping, a blaring after party and two days of racing down a fast closed road in the Gatineau National Park.
Downhill racing can be a true test of grit as riders are forced to bare through the elements of a rain or shine race. With the event falling on a late week end in our season, it was feared that the -2 degree temperatures would shake the bones of even the toughest riders.
FCT took first place once again now reigning him our second year annual champion!
Two locals places 1st and 2nd In the ammeter category, Alexis Bernier and Gabriel laguex
East coast racing has never seemed so vibrant. The race could not have happened without the dedication of over 20 volunteers consisting of groms, families and racers. Sacrificing their chance for some race time is a true sign that our community and culture does not only live on the western side of our continent! More events like King of the Mountain are sprouting around you, so take this as motivation to reach out and attend one or to host your own!
